Level 2 Adult Trauma Center-Located in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center is a 307-bed community Catholic hospital and is sponsored by the Sisters of Christian Charity to carry out the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all in need. High quality, ethically guided and cost-effective health services are provided in a caring, patient-focused environment to develop healthy communities. The service area covers all of Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry counties, and the northern portion of York County.
Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center is committed to caring for the residents of South Central Pennsylvania. GHS opened on March 4, 1963. In 1972, its community mental health center opened and in 1976, continued to grow opening many community health centers. In 1995, the system opened an Allison Hill outreach center, first in a soup kitchen, now in a church, which provides free care for the poor. In 2003, it opened the four-story Ortenzio Heart Center to offer advanced heart care. Most recently, Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center was accredited a Level II trauma center by the PTSF, effective September 1, 2017.
